Eyes of Gaya is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed in 2008 by the vocalist Mario Kohn and the bassist Rodolfo Liberato. Soon the musicians recorded the very first EP “Final Tears”, well accepted by both critics and public. Since then Eyes Of Gaya has already shared the stage with such artists as Dragonforce, Almah and Glenn Hughes. After some line-up changes in 2011 the band released another single in the beginning of this year.

Edu Falaschi has become one of the best music producers in Brazil within the last few years. He appeared at the producer’s desk in the beginning of his musical career, in 1998 with Symbols. Soon he joined the band as a vocalist and produced both Symbols’ albums. Having got a lot of experience on the international level after joining Angra back in 2001, Falaschi returned to the production field with his own band Almah and produced the very first self-titled CD (2006), Fragile Equality (2008) and Motion (2011). Since 2009 Falaschi has been invited to produce works of other bands such as Age Of Artemis, Still Alive, Drace XII and others.

“To Nowhere And Beyond” CD will contain nine songs. Besides Edu FALASCHI, the following vocalists participated in this recording: Andy KUNTZ (Vanden Plas, Abydos), Paul SHORTINO (King Kobra, Quiet Riot, Rough Cutt) and David STEELE (session singer for Bon Jovi).

The album will be released on May 11th 2012 via Brennus Music.

ATLANTYCA is a brand new band dedicated to progressive metal, with a touch of alternative rock. The project was initiated by Julien Putigny, a songwriter and guitarist based in Lyon, France, and his brother Maxime (bass). After years of playing the local club circuit of Lyon, the brothers started Atlantyca with the encouragement of top drummer Laurent Falso, who played with many French stars and progressive bands. The trio spent a lot of time in the studio, working constantly to develop their songs into demos. Their latest demo drew the attention of radio shows, Brennus Music and the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council who believed in this project. In September 2010, the band started to record its debut album, “To Nowhere and Beyond” with many special guests. The band Confiteor was formed in Salvador, capital of Bahia state in 2010. The term “Confiteor” comes from Latin and it is quite usual for the legal industry to describe the state of “confessed defendant” in criminal cases. The music style of the band presents a hybrid of the old German Metal school base with ethnic influences and elements of international metal icons of today.

The bass player of AGE OF ARTEMIS Giovanni Sena confirmed that “it has been very pleasant to work together with Edu Falaschi. We consider this experience as a big lesson for the band. No wonder, Edu is a very gifted man and he has a great background with Angra and Almah. One of the “messages” that we’ve got with him very well is to be objective. The same thing we understood also with Brendan Duffey and Adriano Daga working in Norcal Estudios.

The guitarist Nathan Grego added a few details about the composition: “Before starting the production with Edu Falaschi we already had some initial ideas of several songs. So, when we began with pre-production we started polishing and defining the form and place of every song in the album’s context. Since we all live in Brasília, Edu had to come here from São Paulo. Every song was worked up individually, one by one”.

“Edu helped us a lot to define the whole way of the band itself. Even having the pre-production finished, the songs kept being a subject to constant modifications. After all, in 2011 we finished recording the CD and it was launched at the end of that same year”.

“Overcoming Limits” by Age of Artemis is the first officially released work of Edu Falaschi as a producer of a third-party-band. The previous touches of the producer concerned his own bands such as ALMAh and Symbols. “Overcoming Limits” has already received a very good response both by metal fans and media in Brazil. The next production of Edu Falaschi, the album “Kyo” by Rio-based band STILL ALIVE is also ready to see the light of day. And at the moment, the producer works in TF Produções studio in São Paulo with DRACE XII and PERC3PTION at pre-production of their upcoming Cds.

The new design is created by João Duarte (J.Duarte Design) who was responsible for the current layouts of all Almah and Edu Falaschi channels, besides work with such artists as Circle II Circle, Angra, Korzus, Hangar, Torture Squad and others. This site was created with the support of Power Of Metal Russian Community sites development team.

“We have been already working two weeks together with Edu in São Paulo, in a very intensive way. This experience is simply fantastic for us, because in all the aspects Edu is a great and very professional person to work with!”, affirms Rick Leite, Perc3prtion guitarist. “No wonder that he has become without any doubts, one of the best producers of our country so impressively fast. After his touches our songs are getting better and better due to his experience and we are really excited. So, I believe, our future album will be very good!”

Right now Edu Falaschi is also producing a new studio work of Drace XII (Brazilian Symphonic metal / visual key band), the musician is preparing to come back on stage with ALMAh on April 20th at the first MOA festival in São Luiz, the biggest metal open air announced for 2012 in Brazil.

At the moment, the band has already begun pre-production of the new material together with Edu. Recordings, mixing and mastering of the future CD will be done at Norcal Studios in São Paulo. Such bands as Dream Theater, Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura, Angra, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel have already worked in this studio. Last year, Falaschi together with his band ALMAh recorded and produced its third studio offer entitled “Motion” at Norcal.

PERC3PTION, which means perception, was established in April 2007 in Itapetininga / SP. During 2007 and 2008 the band wrote several songs and performed at various shows and festivals in Sao Paulo State. After some line-up changes, PERC3PTION began recording the debut EP “Insights” released in June 2009. In 2011 after more changes in its line-up the band presented one more EP, “Dead Man In Me” and started creating the material for its debut LP. The band Drace XII (pronounced Juuni, 12 in Japanese) was established in May 2009 under a big influence of Japanese culture and J-Rock. The band expresses its concept musically and visually. In December 2011 Drace XII released its first single “Faceless Kingdom” as a limited edition. Drace XII became the first Brazilian band appeared in “Viju Love Cafe” program, a japanese internet show about Visual Kei (popular both in Japan and abroad). Drace XII has already got its official street teams in Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela and Poland.

Edu Falaschi: “I’m very happy to produce the band which is so much influenced by the Japanese culture. Everyone knows about my love to all that concerns Japan. And this work is very important for my producer’s career. The band is very good and I’m totally convinced that all who adore the art of anime and manga or any other aspects of Japanese culture will love music of these guys!”

Edu Falaschi is well-known by his deep connection with Japan consolidated by various trips to this country with shows and interviews and a big fan base. In Brazil Edu recorded a soundtrack for national version of “Saint Seiya” (Knights of the Zodiac) anime movies. Edu Falaschi is a frequent guest of various anime/cosplay festivals and conventions solo and with his bands Angra and Almah including famous Anime Friends Festival in Sao Paulo.

Edu Falaschi started his career as a producer in 1998-2000 with Symbols. Having got a lot of experience on the international level after joining Angra back in 2001, Falaschi returned to the production field in 2006 with his own band Almah. ALMAh’s third studio album “Motion” was released in September/October 2011 in Brazil (Laser), Europe (AFM) and Japan (JVC). (Brazil), PowerMetal.de (Germany), PowerMetal.it (Italy), Rock Realms (UK), Lords Of Metal (Holland), Metal Zone (Greece), Metal Cry (Spain) and many others. In October-December 2011 ALMAh played in various Brazilian cities, including three shows together with an icon of Brazilian metal, Sepultura. After a short break the band confirmed its first show in 2012: Almah will play at Metal Open Air in São Luís, Maranhão (Brazil) on 20-22 of April. The cast of the festival will include more than 40 bands from Brazil and abroad such as Megadeth, Anthrax, Blind Guardian, Fear Factory, Grave Digger, Venom, U.D.O., Obituary, Exodus, Destruction, Symphony X, Andre Matos, Shaman Korzus among others.

EDU FALASCHI: Hi Catez! Thanks for your kindness! I’m intending to record a new Almah’s album soon, to be released in 2008, probably in april, but it depends on the Angra’s future. If I release the new album next year, I will release a cd together with dvd with video clips, a special concert and more backstage material for sure. I already have many songs done.

STEPHAN DROUIN: – Outside of the members of Angra and Almah, if you could do one tour in a supergroup and if you could have any musician you wanted, who would you want in that group?

EDU FALASCHI: I would have Zakk Wylde- guitar, Blas Elias- drums, Steve Harris- bass, Jordan Rudess – keyboards.

LUNA TANAKA: – Could you tell us something about two bonus songs the Sign of Glory and Supermind? I hope that the Almah’s Japan tour comes true.

EDU FALASCHI: I really hope I can go to Japan soon with Almah! It would be fantastic! Maybe in 2008, who knows? Thanks for your love!!! I love Japan! Well…the 2 bonus track were released only in Europe, cause they released the album after Japan and Brazil. Those 2 songs are very nice, Supermind is very modern and dark, the vocal melody is quite strange, I tried to create something not usual and the Sign of Glory is more like a metal opera, the rhythm is diferent, it’s like the Argentinian traditional music called “tango”. I really like that song!

ALMAH.METALCOMMUNITY.RU: For us here in Russia, Brazil is like a different planet, there’s not so much news about it, just some stories from rare travelers. Is it true that there are many contrasts in your country? Do you think you can influence the situation as a famous musician? Do you want to? Some time before you sang “Save Africa”. What about “Save Brazil”? or… “Save Russia” ))

EDU FALASCHI: Brazil is a beautiful country, with happy people. But of course we have problems. I must confess that the main problem in Brazil is “corruption”, but this problem is everywhere, not only in Brazil. Our culture is really rich, our music is fantastic, you can find hundreds of different kind of rhythms and melodies. It’s a colorful country. You must know the right place to go here! Of course! All countries have good and bad people. But believe me, here it’s not only jungle! Hahaha… we have a very developed civilization! I think everybody that has the chance to say a message to the world through the music, must think that the words can be a gun, so, it’s good if you do something useful to the people… and not just tell bullshit. Well… about “Save Africa” from symbols, my former band, it could be just an example, it’s symbolic! But many countries from Africa still need our help!

LUCA TRIBI: – Hello Edu! When will you tour Italy with your great project? You’re the best!

EDU FALASCHI: Thanks my friend! I hope that an European tour can happen in March 2008, and probably we’re gonna play in Italy! I think we will have around 13 concerts, but it’s not confirmed yet. I will let everybody knows about this tour as soon as possible.

CHIARA RENATA CORRADI: – What is your favorite song you have written?

EDU FALASCHI: It’s a dificult thing to say, I composed many songs during my career! But I really like Heroes of Sand, Nova Era, The Traveller, King, Breathe, etc.

CAROLINA JORDAO GOMES RIBEIRO: – I would like knowing if this solo project damages in some form the band Angra and if it is difficult to work in them both ?

EDU FALASCHI: No! There’s no problem at all! I think I could reach new fans with Almah, and those fans now can know more about Angra and the Angra fans could know more about me through Almah.

MARIANNA LUCENA: – Is there any place where you didn’t expect a big audience and suddenly you got a lot of people there?

EDU FALASCHI: Yeah…we had something like that…I will never forget a concert we did in Salvador, a Brazilian city where most of the people love popular songs, like “Axe Music”. We didn’t know that we would meet so many metal guys there! And believe me! Salvador is a metal city! I love there!

PABLO MACEDO ANTUNES: – Do you have any superstition? Wich one?

EDU FALASCHI: No, I don’t care about that! I don’t think something from the other side could give me problems or not. I don’t like to depend on objects or attitudes. I want to just depend on me.

JOHN GUEBER: – Hello Edu, nice idea, thank you for this opportunity . This is my question, do you feel that with Almah project you’ve “broken all the welds” of being the lead singer of Angra? …and now you are in a “box of ilusions” because the success of Almah??? Before you answer… take a “breathe”.

EDU FALASCHI: Hahaha, good idea. Well, I think with Almah I reached a diferent stage in my career. In Almah you can feel very clear, my own way of singing and composing! But of course Angra is the most important turning point in my life. Without Angra probably I wouldn’t reach what I get nowadays.

JULIANA DA CRUZ GUILHERME: – If Edu Falaschi could create an universal law, what would be that?

EDU FALASCHI: It’s quite dificult to say! Mmmmm… I would say that from now on all rich coutries must take care of the poor coutries building schools, giving food, hospitals, etc. Until finally stop poverty and misery in the world.

MONICA JARDIM FONTES: – When you were recording the Almah’s first album, did you imagine to have all this success or it has been beyond your expectations?

EDU FALASCHI: Actually, I did this album ‘cause I really needed to make something diferent and new in my carear. I had a very hard period in my life, when I had many problems with my voice, so I did a bad tour after the “Temple Of Shadows” releasing. I couldn’t sing correctly, I couldn’t control my voice. It was really tramatic. So I decided to record Almah to go into the spirit of music again, music only for music. Without thinking in marketing or something like that, I just did what I wanted, what I felt, what I needed in that time to get my self-confidence back. The result was fantastic and the feedback from the fans even better. So for me it was like a dream.

LUCAS MARQUES SANTANA: – Edu, I want to know what do you think has changed in you since Rebirth. Do you think you was totally ready? Do you think the music world is like you wanted?

EDU FALASCHI: I think I was ready to start a new era in my career and in Angra. Of course I needed time to get more experience on the stage. I know that, but before Angra I recorded one vinyl with Mitrium, 2 cds with Symbols, one cd with Venus and other diferent stuff so I already had background in studios for example. On the stage you need to be on the road to get experience.

SHRIKKANTH SREEDHARAN: – Has the time affected your ability to write music? If so, how?

EDU FALASCHI: No, I use to write music almost every week. Time just helped me to be more experienced.

IGNACIO ARIEL LOPEZ: – I would like to know what kind of feelings do you have when a fan asks you for an autograph or takes a picture with you. Did you have the same situation with an artist when you were a boy?

EDU FALASCHI: I remember… I asked an autograph to an a international artist around 1990, and he was such a stupid person. So in that time I thought… “I will never treat a fan like that in my life!”. I really respect the fans ’cause their love is real, is authentic, in metal it’s true. So, we are talking about feelings, and when somebody that you love is stupid with you, you will remember that bad feeling forever! I don’t want it to my fans!

FRANCESCA FIORUCCI: – When will you tour Italy with your great project? You’re the best!

EDU FALASCHI: I hope we can play in Italy as soon as possible. Actually I decided to make the new cd and then go to Europe and Japan. This way the people will know even more about Almah and we will have more fans in the tour. I received a invitation to make a tour in March, 2008. But in this period I will start the new Almah’s album, so probably after the releasing, that will happen in the second semester of 2008, I will know how, where and when the tour will be. But I’m very confident we’re gonna play in Europe this year, and of course in Italy too.

MARCELO DOS SANTOS: – Hi Edu, please tell us what about the Angra’s future?

EDU FALASCHI: We needed to stop the activities since July of 2007, we had many internal problems, so we decided to stop and then organize the band. Unfortunally we need time to solve all problems, we really miss the fans. But Angra is a big band and deserves the best structure, now we are selecting the right people to work with Angra, we don’t want to lose time anymore with people that don’t think as a group, but just individually. That’s why we are doing our best to prepare something really good for the Angra’s future.

CAROLINE HARRIS: – How the new Almah’s album sounds like?

EDU FALASCHI: Well, the first Almah’s album was my first experience as a solo artist. I did the album just for fun, so the album has a lot of diferent styles and for me it was amazing that the people liked it! But for this second album I’m preparing a material where you will feel that Almah has a defined style. My intention is releasing the album together with some surprises. I want to make something diferent next time. And musically, I already could say that this next Almah’s album will be the best or one of the bestest albums in my career until now. It’s heavier, powerful, with great melodies and choruses. It’s faster and a bit more progressive than the previous one and probably I will put only 2 balads. All songs will work out very well live. It will be special! That’s why I want to make everything very carefuly! This next album must be released in the second semester of 2008.

ZHANG ZHONGJING: – Hi mr. Edu Falashi, who will play in the next Almah’s album ? Will you record with the same musicians of the first one ( Emppu – Nightwish, Lauri Porra – Stratovarius and Casey Grillo – Kamelot ) or will you invite the guys that were playing during the tour you did in 2007?

EDU FALASCHI: Hi my Chinese friend! ;) I loved to record with those guys, they are friends and they are very good musicians. But this time I will record with people that will make also the tour. I want the same guys from the studio playing live. I can already annouce that Felipe Andreoli (Angra’s bass player) and Marcelo Barbosa (Khallice’s guitar-player) will be part of the new Almah’s album. The rest of the band I will announce as soon as possible. I will choose very carefuly the musicians, I want to play with true and professional people.

PATRICK AMIEL: – Hi Edu! I just knew that Rafael Bittencourt will release a solo album as well, did you listen to it already?

EDU FALASCHI: Hi Patrick, I didn’t listen to it yet! But I’m sure it must be very nice, ‘cause Rafael is one of the greatest composers that I ever met. I learned many things with him, actually I learned many things with all of the other guys. It’s a great honor to divide the same stage with Felipe, Kiko and Rafael. I use to divide my professional life in two parts: b.a ( before Angra ) and a.a ( after Angra ). I really hope we can be back on the road as soon as possible.

According to Edu Falaschi: “We are very happy to participate in the first Metal Open Air. Such event will be a milestone for Brazil and I’m very happy that all our great bands will take part in such an important event sharing stage with many cool international bands and having the same opportunities and conditions! It will be a unique moment for all of us and we’ll show once again that our public is the best audience in the world!”

Now he is considered to be one of the most respected metal producers in Brazil. Imusic’s TV is a renowned music TV and the only “pure” music channel in Germany (the fans consider it as analogue of the old MTV) and it’s available through both cable and satellite. Also, the new videoclip will be on the air of MTV Headbanger’s Ball Greece on this week.

In the beginning of the video Edu Falaschi tells about recording of the vocals and back vocal parts at Norcal Studios in São Paulo as the final step of the new CD recordings before the mixing and mastering in Europe, and mentions that the album will be really great. Then, in the second and third parts Almah’s frontman presents special guests who help to make back vocals for this very important album in the history of Almah. There are two famous Brazilian musicians from renowned national metal acts and real friends of the band: Tiago Bianchi (Shaman) and Victor Cutrale (Furia Inc.).

The next part shows how Edu comes to Norcal late at night by car listening to the music: “to get some inspiration for the recording!!!” Entering the studio, the vocalist expains that this time he starts recording later than usual, but it’s even better. “In the morning it’s bad to sing, it’s getting better in the afternoon but I prefer to record at night, it’s the best time!”

Doing some warm-up, Edu comments that the voice is a part of the whole body and it’s necessary to take care about it. Staying in the kitchen and the “chill-out” room of the studio the musician marks that it’s almost empty in comparison with the recordings of other instruments such as drums, guitars, bass when many people are hanging around. Having finished their work, all the band’s crew are away and during the vocal sessions Edu stays alone, just with Brendan (Duffey, sound engeneer) or Adriano (Daga, anther engeneer) and it can seem a bit sad sometimes…

Meanwhile, Edu remembers how he recorded the vocals for Angra’s album Temple Of Shadows in Germany. And it was funny, because Edu stayed almost alone there in a house in the countryside and even saw a cow several times (the singer shows that it sounded as a cow, not as a bull :))…

At the end of the report Edu reveals some details of his singing for the 3rd Almah’s album and mentioned such techniques as screaming, roaring, his tipical vibrato “Falaschiano” and using of many things from Symbols time. Also, the musician notices that always when he works at his CDs the lyrics are ready very close to the moment when the recording starts that’s why it never works to practice beforehand and all is very honest.

The single will represent the new face and direction of ALMAH. After successful power metal masterpiece “Fragile Equality” released in 2008, ALMAH returns with the 3rd studio effort “Motion” as an experienced matured band with many new ideas and without any fear to be up-to-date and to move forward towards its own language and identity.

Edu Falaschi will perform with ANGRA at the upcoming Rock In Rio, one of the biggest and most important musical festivals not only in Brazil but in the whole world. The band will play on SUNSET stage on 25th of September with a special guest, Finnish Metal Queen Tarja Turunen. With this significant performance at Rock in Rio ANGRA will finalize the current Worldwide Tour supporting the latest CD of the band “Aqua” (2010, SPV). After Rock in Rio Edu Falaschi will start a new tour of ALMAH dedicated to the upcoming album of the band, MOTION (release date in Europe and North America: October 14th, AFM Records). Taipei Metal: In May of 2011 Almah was recording songs for the follow-up to your second record, Fragile Equality. What can you reveal about this upcoming record in terms of the style and subject matter?

Edu Falaschi: “It’s getting fantastic. Its heavy, modern and up. It’s powerful. Full of good energy; an album to shake your head without stopping!”

Taipei Metal: You are working with the same lineup which recorded Fragile Equality. How do you think the band has progressed in the three years since Fragile Equality was released?

Edu Falaschi: “Now we are more friends and we know each other much more.This time the compositions and recordings are much more calm, relaxing and fun, without any stress. It already became the most pleasant album I did in my life. And I have a feeling that in the end it will be the best album in my whole discography! At least the one I like the most.”

Taipei Metal: It is inevitable that people will draw comparisons between Almah and Angra. What is your reaction to this?

Edu Falaschi: “It was natural in the beginning. But with this third album, it will definitely finish. People will see Almah is Almah and Angra is Angra. Be prepared.”

Almah recently finished recording material for the new album entitled Motion at Norcal Studios in São Paulo, Brazil. Motion will be released in the fall via AFM Records. The album is produced by Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli.

According to Edu Falaschi: The cover has been created by myself with my own iPhone. I took a picture in Paris and used some applications to create that motion effect. Then Felipe used my picture and re-created this artwork in high resolution using Photoshop and completed it with new elements. This time we wanted something modern and direct to represent our music and we are totally sure that we got the result we really wanted since the very beginning. This CD will show the real Almah’s language and personality! Stay tuned for further news!

Right now, Edu Falaschi is finishing new songs for the 3rd album of ALMAH. The band announced the first live dates for the end of July at ForCaos and Armazem do Som Festival in Fortaleza/22-07 and Juazeiro do Norte/23-07 respectively.

“It’s the fastest CD-recording I’ve ever done in my life! – tells Edu. – We began working at the end of April and had everything together within one month! I mean, the pre-production, arrangements, the basic parts/solos creation and the guitars/bass/drums recording… Everything took less than one month! And the last week I started to record the vocals. Four songs are almost ready. Also, we already have the cover artwork almost finished and now we’re developing the complete layout for the future CD”.

To the question about the release date, Edu answered: “We don’t have any exact date as of now. It will be scheduled taking into account the interests of all our label partners: in Brazil (Lazer Company), Japan (JVC) and Europe&North America (AFM). We’re going to mix and master the material in Europe and we plan to have the new CD ready by the end of July. But most likely we will wait with the official release until September. The new album is produced by the band itself, mainly by me and Felipe, but the entire band have worked at the basic parts, arrangements, songwriting”…

The journalist asked to tell more about his work as a vocalist of Almah and to compare it with Angra. Edu explained: “When I joined Angra, it was a band with its own history and a very special style…not every singer could sing there! I had to adapt my way of singing to the band’s style. In the case of Almah, this band was created by me, as 100% Edu Falaschi since the very beginning. The idea of Almah was to create heavier and more modern material. This 3rd album of Almah will define the “personality” of the band and it will present my real features as a vocalist who sings heavier, more agressive etc. The high vocals which I sing in Angra are not my natural type of voice, and with Almah I can rescue my identity. Here I feel more comfortable, I sing naturally, totally in my field.

Right now Angra is going on the road with Aqua Tour until the Rock In Rio festival, then I will be really concentrated on Almah’s new album. I’m looking forward to present this material, which is probably due in September. We will work with total dedication, because the CD is very good! It’s the heaviest stuff I’ve ever recorded in my life, the guitar work kicks ass! The guitar parts have been recorded with 7-strings instruments, half-step down (B flat), and the result is very solid and heavy. The rhythm guitars were played four times for extra punch. The new stuff will show that Almah is not really a melodic metal band… But, mainly, this album will make it clear that Almah stands on its ground on the scene! While the first CD was my solo one, and the 2nd, Fragile Equaity, was the first album with the current line up, then unknown for the public, this time Almah is very well consolidated as a band. It’s got its own place, sound, identity and, also very important, its own true fan army!”
